About the app
StreamWatch is built for the people running 24/7 linear channels: FAST channel operators, radio broadcasters, OTT platform teams and streaming infrastructure engineers. Up to nine .m3u8 streams sit in a configurable multiview grid with green, yellow and red health states.
Detection is the point. Stalls are caught with sub-second precision, bitrate and resolution are tracked per stream, degraded streams raise a sticky yellow alert held for five minutes or until acknowledged, and failures retry with exponential backoff from two seconds to thirty-two.
Every status transition is logged with a timestamp and duration, filterable per stream or globally, exportable as JSON or CSV, and posted to your alerting stack as a webhook. Presets rotate automatically and pause on an affected preset until it is acknowledged.
Key features
- Nine simultaneous HLS streams in nine selectable multiview layouts
- Sub-second stall detection with live, degraded, down and unknown states
- Webhook notifications on status change, with exponential backoff on failures
- XMLTV EPG per stream, with the now-playing title on each cell
- Admin and operator roles with biometric unlock, and operator mode hiding URLs
The story
Enterprise stream probes are priced and scoped for an organisation with a dedicated monitoring team, which leaves the small operator running six FAST channels watching them in browser tabs. StreamWatch is the control-room view at the size that actually exists: a native Mac app, in the menu bar, launching at login, that says which of your nine streams is down before a viewer emails to say so.
About the developer
Sylvain Corvaisier has been writing native Apple software since the first public iPhone SDK in 2008. He works from Rennes, France, under SAS Corvaisier, and has published 21 apps across 7 platforms, from iPhone and iPad through to Apple Watch, Mac, Apple TV, Android, Fire TV and Roku. Everything is built natively, one platform at a time, with no cross-platform wrapper in between. He also runs Vendredi App, a monthly workshop in Rennes where a working app ships in an afternoon.
