About the app

The daily game is a colour-coded grid: six tries, first letter free, tiles telling you what is in place, elsewhere or absent. Five minutes a day is the whole commitment.

The part that makes it stick comes afterwards. Every word met joins My Dictionary, and days later it returns as a fresh round where the definition is the clue and the first letter is hidden. Getting it first try is worth five times the points, and three clean recalls retire the word for good.

There are 2,621 English words across seven levels from Grade 1 to Expert, with definitions rewritten for the level rather than copied from a dictionary, plus pronunciation, phonetics, syllable breakdown, example sentences, synonyms, antonyms and a book suggestion. A French word of the day runs alongside with its own level, streak and dictionary. Each child gets a separate profile. There are no ads, no account and no data collected, and it works offline.

  • A separate profile per child, no ads, no account, and full offline play

The story

Word games end the moment you guess right, which is exactly when the learning has not happened yet. Sésamot adds the missing half by quietly reinserting the same word days later, disguised as a new round, and only retiring it after three clean recalls. Everything else follows from wanting that to feel like a game rather than a revision app, which is why the level adapts, the words never turn babyish, and a miss makes the next one easier instead of piling on.
