About the app

My TV Channel builds linear television the way broadcast works: everyone tunes in to the same thing at the same time. Upload videos from Photos, Files or by link, set how often each should play, and the platform builds a round-the-clock schedule and keeps the channel on air.

Every channel gets its own web address, and channels are either local, tied to a place, or thematic, tied to a subject. Viewers need no account to watch, and most channels are free with occasional ads, exactly like broadcast TV.

The app runs on six platforms, which is unusual for a product at this size: iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV natively, plus Android, Fire TV and Roku. Creator plans scale from a first upload through to high-volume broadcast.

Key features

  • Automatic 24/7 scheduling built from your video library
  • Per-video weights that control how often each one airs
  • A dedicated web address for every channel
  • Local channels tied to a place, or thematic channels tied to a subject
  • Native apps on iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, Android, Fire TV and Roku

The story

On-demand made every viewer watch alone. Linear television, whatever else was wrong with it, made an audience show up at the same time and talk about the same thing afterwards, which is the part creators keep trying to rebuild with premieres and live streams. My TV Channel gives that back without the broadcast infrastructure: the scheduling is automatic, the delivery is a URL, and getting on air takes an upload rather than a playout facility.

About the developer

Sylvain Corvaisier has been writing native Apple software since the first public iPhone SDK in 2008. He works from Rennes, France, under SAS Corvaisier, and has published 21 apps across 7 platforms, from iPhone and iPad through to Apple Watch, Mac, Apple TV, Android, Fire TV and Roku. Everything is built natively, one platform at a time, with no cross-platform wrapper in between. He also runs Vendredi App, a monthly workshop in Rennes where a working app ships in an afternoon.
